This is the ship’s log of the catamaran, Padma, a year 2000 37 foot Privilege, helmed by Chris and Anita. The planned route is: Bahamas, Cuba, Yucatan, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. At some point we will go through the Panama Canal and head up the Pacific side.
About us:
Chris and I love people, and we love to travel. After we both worked in high-tech jobs for several years, and sailed our C&C 30 on Lake Ontario, we decided upon a simpler life. Our current boat, Padma, Sanskrit for sacred lotus — symbolic of expanding consciousness (both Hindu and Buddhist gods sit on a lotus) is partially the result of a two year working stint in Bangalore. I can’t blame the name totally on India, but also, I can’t deny that the country and its people have driven us to find out more, to explore, to question.
Our little cat is designed by Marc Lombard . He’s famous for his Vendee Globe , southern ocean racing yachts: over kill for us, but we feel safe and love this boat’s speed, sturdiness and comfort.
